How to test a new monitor
A new monitor deserves a quick, repeatable inspection before the return window closes. Work from basic browser information to visual checks, then record anything that needs a second look.
1. Confirm the active display mode
Check the browser-reported resolution and viewport. Then compare the active refresh rate with the setting you expected from the monitor and your operating system.
2. Scan for pixel anomalies
Use black, white, red, green and blue fields. Scan the entire panel at your normal viewing distance and record any dot that stays visibly different.
3. Check uniformity and motion
Use gray fields, a black screen and moving patterns. Near-black variation, edge glow and motion trailing depend on panel technology and viewing conditions, so record what you see instead of treating one pattern as a verdict.
